Nehemiah went to Andover and was a physician there. He relocated to Chelmsford around 1770. Nehemiah had no children and in his will makes bequests to various relatives. However, he does make a bequest to his beloved wife Joanna, so the reports in published genealogies that she died earlier and he remarried to Mrs. Ebenezer Bridge are mistaken. It turns out that the widow Joanna Abbott married as her second husband Ebenezer Bridge.
