Notes
Will
Son Levi did marry just prior to his death in 1812. He wrote his will 7 March 1812 shortly before his marriage. In his will, Levi bequeathed a suit of mourning apparel to his good friend Hannah Smith of Weston “to whom I had expected to be joined in marriage before this time." Mourning apparel was also bequeathed to his honored father Amos Holt, honored mother Jemima Holt, beloved brother Amos Hot, Jr., to the wife of Amos, to each of Amos’s children, and to his beloved sister Cloe Bales all of Wilton; to his beloved sister Lydia Parker of Reading, Vermont; and to his beloved sisters Sally Whitney and Lois Walker of Andover, Vermont. To beloved brother Abel, he bequeaths a note he holds against him for $560 dated “Webb’s Pond Township September 26, 1807” and payable January 1, 1811. He bequeathed $400 to the female asylum at Boston. The remainder of the estate goes to Hannah Smith “whom I now own and honor as my intended wife and for whom I feel myself bound in duty and affection to make as ample provision as though our marriage had been legally solemnized. Her attention to me in my feeble state of health demands my acknowledgements.”George Washington Smith of Weston was named sole executor.[1][1] Probate Records 1648--1924 (Middlesex County, Massachusetts), Probate Papers, No 11781-11878,Case 11789
