Property
On 2 May 1821 (recorded 7 May 1821), Thomas Gray conveyedto his son Jacob for $1,200 several tracts of land in Andover plus all thehousehold furniture, farming utensils, and stock animals and all his goods andchattels of every description.[1] Jacobperhaps ran into financial hardship as on 10 June 1830, Jacob Gray of Andoverwith his wife Betsey mortgaged the entirety of his property with buildings inAndover to Jeremiah Goldsmith, Jr. for one hundred dollars. Jacob was to repayone hundred dollars with interest. On 14 February 1834, Jeremiah Goldsmithassigned the note to William Gleason of Billerica. The mortgage note was paidon 7 March 1840 by Jesse Harnden of Reading and the deed for the property wasreleased to Jesse Harnden.[2][1]Massachusetts Land Records, Essex County, 226:109
