1816, May 16. Tucker, John, of Rahway Twsp., Essex Co.; will of. Wife. Rachel, for life,all homestead with buildings thereon, and land purchased of Daniel Moore at t he corner where Andrew Elston now owns; also a horse and chair, 2 cows, the negro girl named Lett, 2 beds and bedding, and household furniture as she chooses; also interest of money from sale of land I bought of Joseph Bird. Grandson, John N. Tucker (son of Joseph, dec'd), all the home plantation where I now live; but if he dies leaving no issue, said farm to be divided between my lawful heirs. Rest of estate to be sold. Sons, John, $25 and Samuel, $25, they having received a portion of my estate before. Grandson, John, to pay his sisters,Harriet and Catharine, each $250. Of residue. 1/3 to daughter, Elizabeth Chapman,1/3 to daughter, Rachel Carle, 1/3 to daughter, Sarah Clark. Rachel having no children, if she dies childless, her share to her sisters. Executors—son, John and friend, Dr. David S.Craig. Witnesses: Mary P. Marsh, Abijah Moore, James Smith. Proved May 28, 1816.Endnotes
