Probate

In his will dated 9 October 1773 (probate 2 December 1782), James Parker bequeaths to beloved wife Phebe a lengthy list of yearly provisions to be provided son James Parker. Phebe also has use and improvement of as much of the dwelling house and cellar as she needs for her natural life. Son James is to meet all the needs of his mother during her life. These provisions are in lieu of her dower. Daughter Anne Bragg receives all the household furniture after her mother’s decease and the sum of £3.6.8. Anne also has the use of the east room of the house and use of the cellar and oven. Anne has use of the house while she is a single woman, but the furniture and money are hers forever. Son James receives all the remaining personal and real estate and is named executor. Real estate was valued at £417 and personal estate at £60.16.0.
