Will
In his will written 28 December 1825 (proved 14 May 1827), Edward Keyes bequeathed to beloved wife Sarah the use and improvement of one-half of the home farm during her natural life. Grandson Elias Keyes Smith receives $500 at age twenty-one, which is over and above what Edward has given to Elias’s motherEsther Smith. The remainder of the estate is to be divided among his ten living children, the sons receiving one and one-half shares and the daughters one share. The children are Roxey Keyes, Justus Keyes, Danforth Keyes, Polly Woodward, Edward Keyes, Sarah Upham, Ann Smith, Giddings W. Keyes, Joseph F Keyes, and David Keyes. Danforth Keyes and Joseph F. Keyes were named executors.
