Elizabeth Abbott died 18 Jul 1762 in Pomfret, Windham, CT. This death is recorded in the Barbour collection. On 29 Sep 1762, Joseph Phelps wrote a will (perhaps a new will to replace the one from before wife Elizabeth died) in which he names his two living daughters (Elizabeth and "younger" daughter Sarah) and also his grandson Joseph Lawrence who is the the son of his daughter Hannah who is deceased. The executor of the estate is named as his grandson Joseph Barrett who is the oldest child of his daughter Elizabeth.
The will was proved in 1773 which Joseph Barrett serving as the executor.
It is reported in most published genealogies that Elizabeth died in 1718, but that is not correct. Elizabeth Abbott Phelps in known to be living on 20 October 1726 when she signed a probate document for the final settlement of the estate of her father William Abbot. Both she and Joseph Phelps signed this document and specifies that she is the child of William. There is an Elizabeth Phelps that died in Andover in 1718 but her age at death was 91, so that is not this Elizabeth.
