Jacob Bixby served in theRevolution. In 1849, his daughter Patty applied for back payments that er nowdeceased mother might have been eligible for as a widow. On 28 December 1849,Patty Jones aged sixty-nine years and resident of Cavendish, Vermont, wife ofSamuel Jones, provided a statement. She was a daughter of Jacob and MarthaBixby and her father served from Westford, Massachusetts during the Revolution.He enlisted or was drafted and was out for several months at times. He wascalled a Minute Man. He was at the Battle of Bunker Hill. He was at the captureof Burgoyne. He had one nine-month period of service, and she was told that histotal service was about two years. While he was away, her mother lived with hergrandfather Hale. One of the officers her father served with was her uncleEphraim Hale. She further reported she had three brothers, Jacob Jonathan, andLorin, and the oldest if living would be 73 years old. She had four sisters,Martha who died at 18 months old who would have been 75 if living, Polly nowthe widow of James Robinson of Reading, Sally the wife of Jonathan Ackley ofGuilford, Vermont, and Matilda who is supposed to be dead as nothing has beenheard from her for many years. Only three of the children were in 1849 known tobe living: Patty, Polly, and Sally. Her parents were married on 14 October 1773by the Rev. Willard Hall. Her father died at Reading on 26 August 1831 and hermother died at Reading on 5 August 1837. A pension was allowed at the rate of$32.86 per annum from 26 August 1831 to 5 August 1837.[1][1] U.
