Military
On 27 July 1832, Sylvanus Hatch, aged 71 years and resident of Palermo, Maine, provided a statement related to his application for a pension. In March 1777, he enlisted as a private in the company of Capt.Benson and regiment of Col. Rufus Putnam for a term of nine months. He served the entire term but had a two-month furlough during the enlistment. During his enlistment, he was engaged in a battle with Indians and Fort Edward and was present at the taking of Burgoyne. He reported he was born in Falmouth in January 1761 and was resident of Rochester, Massachusetts at the time of his enlistment. He lived in Falmouth until age twenty-one years and then removed to China, Maine where he lived until about three years previous to his application when he moved to Palermo.[1][1] U. Property
On 26 July 1811, Silvanus Hatch of Harlem, inconsideration of fifty dollars, conveyed one acre in Harlem to Ichabod Chadwick to enclose a burying place. On 19 August 1818, Silvanus Hatch of Harlem with wife Betsey relinquishing right of dower, in consideration of $550, conveyed t Lemuel Pinkham a 50-acre property in Harlem.[1][1] Maine Land Records, Kennebec County, 19:569, 30:270
