John Walker was the son of John and Mary (Willard) Walker. He trained as a printer in Isaiah Thomas print shop in Worcester, and also worked under Rev. Samuel Williams at the Rutland Herald in Rutland, VT. He married Sarah Fitch 12 Jan 1800, at Huntington, VT. The family lived for a few years, in Colchester, VT, where he worked as a deputy U.S.Customs officer enforcing the Embargo on Lake Champlain, 1810, before settling on Point au Fer, Rouses Point, Champlain, NY. He was elected to the NY Assembly, and died suddenly, in Albany, 1832 during his second term.
