On 10 April 1818, BenjaminWhitmore, aged sixty-six years and resident of Chester, Vermont, provide astatement for his application for a Revolutionary War pension. He enlisted atLeominster on 1 January 1776 in the company of Capt. Hugh Maxwell, regiment ofCol. William Prescott and served until 1 January 1777 when he was discharged atPeekskill, New York. On 1 August 1820, he provided additional information onhis circumstances. The value of his property was $11.44. His household washimself and his wife aged sixty-four year. He was a shoemaker by trade but nolonger able to work at his trade. He was awarded a pension of $96 per year.[1] [1] U.
