Probate
In his will written 23June 1781 (proved 16 October 1781), Jonathan Gilbert bequeathed to his sonJacob, one heifer. Sons Simeon and Josiah receive one-half of the real estateand personal estate to divide equally. Beloved wife Sarah, who is named soleexecutrix, and son Jonathan receive the other half of the estate, Sarah’s halfto be for her natural life. Daughters Martha Tillson, Eleanor Upham, and AffaWorthington each receives a cow. Daughter Sarah Gilbert receives specified householditems including a bed, chest of drawers, linen wheel, and the looking glassthat was her mother’s.
