Probate
In his will written 16 April 1880, Ira Holt bequeathed to beloved wife Hannah eight thousand dollars and all the household furniture she may wish to keep. Son Henry Harrison Holt receives the gold-headed cane,grandson Clark Morris Holt receives the old pocketbook that belonged to Ira’s grandfather, and Ira Gilbert Holt receives his watch and chain. The remainder of the personal estate is to be divided among his four children: Almira Jane Hackett of St. Paul, Minnesota; Sarah Mariah Jernagan of Arlington, Massachusetts;Martha Ann Tolman of Boston, Massachusetts; and Henry Harrison Holt of Kalama, Washington Territory. His real estate including two houses and land in Arlington and Fitchburg and land he owns along the turnpike from New Ipswich to Jaffrey in New Hampshire is to be sold when the majority of the children agree to sell and the money equally divided among the children.
