Pension S17431 On 13 August 1832, William Gammell of Hillsboroughaged eighty-two years made application for a pension based on his service inthe Revolution. In April 1775 while residing in Concord, Massachusetts heenlisted for eight months in the company of Capt. Abisha Brown in Col. JohnNixon’s regiment. He was stationed at Cambridge until after the Battle ofBunker Hill, which battle he was in, and was in the Battle of Concord. He wasstationed the remainder of the time at Prospect Hill and Winter Hill. In August1776, he enlisted from Concord for a term of four months under Capt. ZaccheusFitch in Col. Brown’s regiment. They marched through Bennington andSkenesborough to Mount Hope between Lake Champlain and Lake George. From there,they marched to Saratoga. He reported he was born in Boston in 1750. He haslived in Hillsborough for the past fifty-five years. William was credited withtwelve months service and awarded a pension.[1][1] U.
