On 9 March 1811, Edwardand Hannah Barton entered into an agreement with John Marvin Barton involvingthe transfer of 50 acres in New Salem from Edward to John Marvin with thecondition of a life lease with fifty cents rent for Edward and Hannah. On 17March 1812, Edward Barton yeoman of New Salem with his wife Hannah, inconsideration of two hundred dollars, conveyed to Polly Tyrell wife of JeremiahTyrell gentleman of New Salem, and to her heirs forever, a 40-acre tract in NewSalem being lot number 136 of the fourth division. This property abutted thatof Enos Reynolds.
