https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/8994/images/007137148_00377?usePUB=true&pId=1013711In his will written 23August 1803 (proved 30 August 1804), John Blunt of Winthrop bequeathed tobeloved wife Abigail one-third of the real estate after the payment of debtswhile she is a widow. Abigail receives one-third of the personal estate to beat her disposal excepting his right in the Winthrop library, one desk, theEnglish musket, and his wearing apparel (which go to son John Winthrop Blunt). Thereare other provision for Abigail’s support. Abigail was named guardian andcontroller of “my three orphan children by my friend Marget McCartha”, namely NaomyBlunt, John Winthrop Blunt, and Martha Blunt. Sons Jesse and Andrew Blunt eachreceive a bible worth one dollar. His three daughters receive a bible: AnnaJudkins, Mary Atkinson, and Rebecca Besse. “Rebecca Blunt my former wife” alsoreceives a bible. His three children by Miss Margaret McCartha receive theremainder of the estate. Son John Winthrop receives the real estate inReadfield and Winthrop when he arrives at age twenty-one. He also receives thethirds in the real estate of his stepmother after her decease. His sistersNaomi and Martha are to have a right to live in the house until theirmarriages. He gives directions for John Winthrop’s education and training infarming. His daughters Naomi and Martha receive the remainder of the personalestate. Wife Abigail Blunt and friend Mr. Joel White were named executors.
