Following the death of his wife Mary, Samuel in March 1823 was empowered to act as guardian for his minor children and dispose of the real estate deriving to his children from the right of his late wife. On 13 June 1823, Samuel Frye of Danville as guardian to Samuel F. Frye, Porter A.Frye, Mary Frye, Harriet Frye, Adeline Frye, and Caroline Frye conveyed to Luther Richardson, the highest bidder at $594, part of the real estate belonging to the children in Chelmsford. Another tract was sold to Josiah Wood on 14 June 1823.
