Phebe Jones

(16 Apr 1799 - 21 Apr 1881)

The story is that she married a sailor named Atkinson and he ran away the next day. That seems perhaps true as she was the widow Phebe Atkinson when she wrote her will and she left all her estates to siblings, nieces, and nephews.

There is a petition for a guardian for her in 1878 as being insane. She lived with her sister Anna, but Anna died in 1878 which is why the guardian was named then.

Phebe died in Stoneham and she is there in the 1880 census. Her runaway husband seems to have been from Stoneham as the marriage is recorded there.
