Did he go to Tennessee? Yes he did. His listing in the Phillips Academy list says he was a merchant and auctioneer in Virginia and Tennessee. He was at Phillips Academy in 1808.

He was born in Andover and went to Norfolk, Virginia 24 October 1810 and went on to Charlotte County, Virginia 27 December 1816. Several children were born in Charlotte County. The family left Charlotte County 15 November 1826 and arrived in Rutherford County, Tennessee 18 December 1826.
