Notes
Death
The will was probated in June, 1809. The probate records make reference to heirs Lucy Capen (daughter) and Lydia Mansfield (daughter) who is married to Richard Mansfield. His son Joseph Mansfield is also mentioned as an heir. Samuel's wife Rachel died very soon after Samuel, so at the time of the probate there were just the three heirs, children Lucy, Lydia, and Joseph. The actual will was written in 1805 and lists his wife Rachel, and just these three children. The will also specifically mentions that Rachel his wife was the daughter of Joseph Roby. The will was written in 1805 and probated in 1809. The husbands of the two daughters, Richard Mansfield and David Capen, are involved in the management of the estate.Essex County, MA: Probate File Papers, 1638-1881, accessed through americanancestors.org
