Will
New Hampshire. Probate Court (Hillsborough County); Probate Place: Hillsborough, New Hampshire, Probate Records, Vol 38-39, 1829-1833, will of Thomas Merrill, 3 Aug 1828.In his will written 3 August 1828, Thomas Merrill makes the following bequests: to Thomas Azro Merrill son of his deceased son Nathaniel, $60 which is to be held in trust by William Dickey; the other children of his son Nathaniel each receive $60 and these are Lydia, John, William, Martha, and Mary Merrill; Jonathan Clement late husband of deceased daughter Charlotte Lucretia receives $100 to aid him in educating his children; grandchildren Charlotte Lucretia Clements and Jonathan D. Clements, Jr. each receive $350 this amount to be held in trust; if the grandchildren do not live until they come of age, their shares will be divided among his sons Thomas A., Enos, and John; the wearing apparel is equally divided among the three sons; additional provisions are made for Enos in the form of a trust; after Enos's death, the remainder of the trust is to be divided among Enos's wife and children; there are some complicated contingencies related to the legacy to Enos based on who died when, although it is clear that Enos's legacy is to be held in trust for him. Son Thomas A. Merrill is named sole executor.
