Probate

Thomas Baldwin wrote his will 11 January 1810 in Athens, Pennsylvania but the probate of his estate is in Tioga, New York and the will includes extensive description of his property in Tioga. Beloved wife Mary receives all the household furniture for her lifetime and it is at her disposal. He then notes that in addition to debts owed, there are outstanding payments due to the estate. After the settlement of the debts, the estate is to be divided among his five sons: Thomas Baldwin, Jr., Vine Baldwin, George Baldwin, Isaac Baldwin, and Morgan Baldwin. His has these bequests to his three daughters: Ency Duprey, five dollars; Mira Covel, one hundred dollars; and Hannah Baldwin, one hundred fifty dollars. There are other specifications for the support of wife Mary and for the bringing up and education of son Morgan and daughter Hannah. These directions include how the income and interest from the farm is to be used which is given in great detail. Sons Thomas and Vine Baldwin and brother Isaac Baldwin are named executors. The will was proved 18 March 1811.
