Case 17357In his will dated 29 March 1810 (proved 7 May 1810), Samuel Lummus bequeathed to beloved wife Elizabeth the improvement of one-half the real estate in Hamilton and Ipswich during her natural life. She also receives other specific provisions for her continued support. Son Samuel receives all the real estate in Hamilton, Ipswich, or any other town. There are monetary bequests to other children to be paid after the death of his wife, and with the provision that the children first satisfy any debts they have to their father. John receives one thousand two hundred dollars. Ezra receives five hundred dollars and is to learns a trade, the expenses of learning the trade to be paid by Samuel out of the estate. Daughter Betsey receives three hundred dollars but has received already two hundred-four dollars. Daughter Tamma also receives three hundred dollars with the allowance of one hundred forty-nine dollars received. Daughters Martha and Clara will each receive three hundred dollars at age eighteen or at the time of marriage. Granddaughter Hannah Ward receives four hundred dollars when eighteen or married. Son Samuel and Captain Robert Dodge were named executors. The value of the real estate at inventory was $6,024.00 and personal property of $7,441.55 with an offset of debts of $1,690.63.
