Will 26 Jan 1816
In his will written 26 January 1816, Phineas Fletcher bequeaths to beloved wife Allis Fletcher her full one-third part right of dower. She also receives $175, two cows, and half the household furniture. Daughter Anna receives $100, half the furniture that was her mother's, and the great bible. Daughter Betsey receives $100 and the remaining half of the furniture that was her mother's. Daughters Indiana, Sally, Lucy, and Jane each receive $100. Jane's legacy is to be held in trust until she is capable of taking care of herself. The remaining half of his furniture is to be equally divided among his six daughters. All the remainder of the estate goes to son Mark Fletcher who is also named executor. There is a codicil to the will dated 26 January 1823 in which he bequeaths an additional $25 to Allice and all the provisions that he dies possessed of. She also has use of all his library while she remains a widow. After his death, the library is to be divided among his six youngest children. Phineas also provides that any of his daughters that remain unmarried can have use of the house.
