Surrogate's Court (Lewis County); Probate Place: Lewis, New York, Wills, Vol A-B, 1806-1840, Volume B, p 9In his will written 7 February 1831 (probate 23 April 1831), Paul Abbott bequeathed to son Sylvester Abbot one thousand dollars. Daughter Elizabeth Abbot receives two hundred-fifty dollars. Wife Patty Abbot receives a certain piece of land with all the building situated in the village of Lowville for her use during her natural life. After her decease,this property goes to his children: Mary E. Abbot, Elizabeth Abbot, Henry G.Abbot, William E. Abbot, James H. Abbot, and Thomas S. Abbot. Wife Patty also has the use of all the furnishings, carriages, etc. during her life and this also is divided among the children named at her death. The custody and tuition of daughters Mary and Elizabeth is given to Patty during the minority of the children. Custody and tuition of his sons Henry G., William E., James H., and Thomas S. is given to William Eels of the town of Whitestown.
