Surrogate's Court (Rensselaer County); Probate Place: Rensselaer, New York, Probate Records, Vol 0002-0004, 1802-1813, p 295.In his will dated 3 April 1812, Joseph Abbott leaves all the household furniture to wife Persis and son Royal Abbott is to care for her. Daughter Orinda Hinman receives $50 is addition to the amount she has already received. Daughter Hannah Clapp receives $200. Daughter Lucy Bennette receives the note in the sum of $134.40 that he holds for her husband Jedediah Bennette. The other household furnishings are divided among his three daughters. The remainder of the estate goes to son Royal Abbott who is also named executor.
