On 23 March 1802, Benjamin Mills was a farmer of Orford when he purchased 51 acres of lot number 13 from Joel and Mary Phelps for payment of two hundred and thirty-seven dollars.1Grafton County deed – 98:448

On 8 March 1826, Benjamin Mills of Orford with his wife Dorcas, in consideration of seven hundred dollars, conveyed to Robert Peebles 51 acres of lot number 13 in Orford, being a lot Benjamin purchased from Joel Phelps on 23 March 1802 and a second lot part of lot number 12 purchased by Benjamin from Joseph Pratt on 22 March 1806.2
