Notes
Will
In his will written 5 December 1795 (probate 4 January 1796), Samuel Stevens leaves the use and improvement of the entire estate to dear wife Elizabeth to be at her disposal for the support of Elizabeth, their children, and Samuel's only sister. He wishes that his sister remain living with the family. If his wife and only son William enter into joint business, then they will divide the profits as they think will be of the most benefit to the family. The management of the estate is left to Elizabeth at her prudence and discretion. At Elizabeth's death, the estate is to be equally divided among his surviving children although they are not named. Elizabeth is named sole executor. The total value of the estate was $6,206.19.Essex County, Massachusetts, Probate Records and Indexes 1638-1916; Author: Massachusetts.
