Case number 20196In his will written 16 August 1822, George Osgood bequeaths to beloved wife Mary use of east part of the house in common with his unmarried daughters, half of the household provisions, and one-third of the floor pew in the north meeting house as long as she remains a widow. Mary also receives $200. Son Joseph Otis Osgood receives the great bible, the Greek lexicon and half the wearing apparel. Son George Osgood is named executor and also receives the obstetrical instruments and his note of $160 that is owed his father. Son Benjamin Binney Osgood receives one-sixth of the real estate so long as he pays the $700 note to Edward Rand and another $500 note to Benjamin Collins. Son John Osgood receives one-sixth of the land as long as he pays the value of a note owed his father. Daughter Elizabeth Putnam receives one-sixth of the real estate deducting $278.25 and she also receives the silver pepper box. Daughter Rebecca Bridges receives one-sixth part of the real estate deducting $398. Daughter Maria Osgood receives one-sixth part of the real estate and the mahogany post bed. Daughter Sarah Osgood receives one-six of the real estate and a bedstead with bolster and pillows. His single daughters, Sarah and Maria, also have improvements on one-half of the house and property not sold to pay debts, as long as they are unmarried.
