Notes
Will
New Hampshire. Probate Court (Hillsborough County); Probate Place: Hillsborough, New Hampshire, Probate Records, Vol 57-58, 1848-1856, will of Jonathan Abbott, p 527.Jonathan Abbott wrote his will 23 December 1854 while he was residing in Clarement, but wrote a codicil on 18 June 1855 when he was residing in Litchfield. In his original will, he made bequests of $50 each to his grandchildren Mark Campbell of Litchifield and Dorothy Knowles the wife of Henry Knowles of Nashua, but he revoked these legacies in the codicil providing each of these grandchildren one dollar and no more. Instead, he gave the $100 to his daughter Emily Griffin wife of Abbott Griffin because of her great kindness to him. He divided his estate between his grandchildren the children of Dorothy Abbott and Samuel Abbott and his daughter Emily Griffin and her husband Abbott Griffin. His daughter Dorothy Abbott died between the time of his will and the time of the codicil. The two grandchildren cut out of the will were the children of his daughter Clarissa who was deceased and her husband Smith Campbell. The will also includes a small bequest to Andrew Leadstone who was the husband of his daughter Rebecca Abbott who was deceased.
