On 1 May 1778, Abiel Stevens with his wife Dorothy sold to Joseph Lee for £240 a tract of upland, meadow, and orchard containing seven acres.[1]On 6 October 1778 (recorded 4 July 1781), Abiel Stevens of Merrimac, New Hampshire, yeoman, purchased of David McCleary and William McCleary of Bedford a 146-acre farm part in Bedford and part in Merrimac for payment of £810. On 2 February 1782, Abiel of Bedford with his wife Dorothy sold to David Stevens of Bedford for £10 one-half of the 146-acre farm in Bedford with half of the buildings. On 20 September 1796 (recorded 21 February 1804), Abiel sold his entire estate, real and personal, including all his land in Bedford and Merrimac that he obtained from David McCleary to his son David Stevens for payment of$500. This transaction included the stock animals, farming utensils, household furniture, and wearing apparel.[2]
