Engelbert Von Langen

(Abt 1385 - Abt 1442)

Engelbert I Von Langen is our 14th great grandfather by the following path:
Margaret Ernestine Feld → Bernard R. Feld → Anna Thecla Juengerman Feld → Maria Anna FeyeJuengerman → Margaretha Wester Feye →Anna Baumheuer Wester → Adelheid Langen Baumhaus → Bernhard Langen →Hermann Von Langen → Bernhard Von Langen → Bernhard Von Langen → Bernhard VonLangen → Christina Von Langen → Andreas Von Langen → Engelbert II Von Langen →Englebert I Von Langen
The Feld side of the family can be traced back into the early Middle Ages, and perhaps even further back.  Some branches of the family have been in the Emsland area of what is now Germany for centuries.  Our great grandparents who emigrated from Germany came from the Emsland area.  Our great grandfather Gerhard August Feld was from the parish of Langen.  Engelbert I derives his name from that parish.  That area is part of the Lower Saxony district.  The area is also known as Westphalia which is a former Prussian province.
The Von Langen family is one of the noble lines of Westpahia with roots tracing back to the 12th century.  I do not have much information about their actual lives except they seemed to own a lot of land and also married wives who brought even more land into the marriages.   Part of the problem locating stories of the family is that they are written in German and I am depending on Google translation at this point.  Perhaps more later. . .
