Probate
Abiah Bailey did not leavea will and her estate entered probate 6 November 1861, administered by ObadiahDuston at the request of son Moores Bailey. The value of the estate wasprimarily in the form of notes owed to the estate. Among the payments made fromthe estate was a note with interest of $66.90 paid to Moores Bailey and a paymentof $95.19 to Ruthena Page for board and nursing. Following payment of expenses,the amount remaining in the hands of the administrator was $500. Heirs singing that they received theirdistribution from the estate of Abiah Bailey were Eliphalet Coburn signing forJohn Bailey’s distribution, Abiah Coburn, Jonathan Page, Moores Bailey, ThomasD. Bailey, David Bailey (who was a son of son David), and Orren D. Bailey (whowas a son of David).[1]Abiah’s brother ThomasDuston died soon after Abiah and he left no children. A portion of the estateadministration for Abiah includes her children as heirs-at-law of ThomasDuston. Abiah’s children identified in Thomas’s probate were Moores Bailey,Ruthena D. Page wife of Jonathan Page, John Bailey whose share was sold toEliphalet Coburn, Abiah Coburn wife of Eliphalet, and Thomas D.
