Probate – there is a will – the only childspecifically named is Benjamin – most of them are minorshttps://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/8996/images/007129819_00316?treeid=&personid=&usePUB=true&_phsrc=Fgz121092&_phstart=successSource&pId=491787 In his will written 19 March 1816, Benjamin Chase yeomanof Pelham bequeathed to his beloved wife Dolly all the household furniture forher use and disposal. Dolly also has the discretion to dispose of any of theestate, real or personal, to pay debts and funeral charges and for the benefitof the heirs. Dolly also has the use and improvement of the estate while she isa widow for the bringing up of his young children. At Dolly’s death orremarriage, the estate is to be divided among his children, with son Benjaminwho worked with him until age twenty-one to have double the amount of any ofthe daughters. If his other sons work with their mother until age twenty-one,they will have double the share of a daughter. On 9 January 1835, FriendM. Chase, husbandman of Grafton, New Hampshire, in consideration of one hundreddollars, quitclaimed to Benjamin Chase of Pelham his interest in a farm inPelham and Hudson from the estate of their father Benjamin Chase. On 31 August1837, widow Philena Chase of Pelham acting as guardian to her three childrensold property from the estate that also involved property from Benjamin Chasethe elder with dower rights of his widow Dolly to Samuel Chase for payment oftwo hundred and seventy-seven dollars. On 13 September 1837, the followingheirs of Benjamin Chase, inconsideration of two hundred and fifty dollars,quitclaimed their interest in the 55-acre farm with buildings from the estateof Benjamin Chase to Samuel Chase: Daniel Ordway and his wife Dolly Ordway inher right of Pelham; Timothy A. Holt and his wife Sarah A. Holt in her right ofPelham; Jonathan Hills and his wife Hannah Hills in her right of Litchfield; JoshuaChase of Hudson; Julia Marshall widow of Hudson; Solomon D. Chase of Lowell,Massachusetts; and Mary Chase single woman of Lowell.
