On 2 July 1767, Elias Smith of Boxford with his wife Hannah sold half of the farm derived from his father’s estate to his brother John. On 3 March 1768, Elias Smith bought 70 acres in Topsfield and Boxford from Thomas Kimball. On 7 April 1773, John Smith and Richard Peabody of Boxford sold a 70-acre property partially in Boxford and partially in Topsfield to Elias Smith yeoman of Boxford for two hundred pounds.1
