Notes
Probate
The will of David Abbott, written 7 November 1753, has the following bequests: beloved wife Hannah receives the widow's third; beloved son Solomon receives land and meadows above the brook, and "all the rest" of the children receive the rest of the estate. These children are David, Josiah, Jonathan, Benjamin, Hannah, and Sarah. The four boys share equally while the two daughters get half as much as each of the boys. The bequests to the younger children do include bequests of land. David calls on his "trusty friends" Ebenezer Abbot, Samuel Abbot, and Thomas Abbot to divide the land. David goes into detail about how the division of the land should proceed. The sons are to buy out the value of the portion of the daughters.Endnotes
