Wesley Marvin Flatt
(13 May 1925 - 18 Oct 1963)
He had rheumatic fever when he was ten. Unknown at the time was that his aortic valve was damaged. He had experimental heart surgery in Minneapolis and died in 1963. Jeanne, after much deliberation, consented to an autopsy. Afterwards the hospital forgave the costs of the surgery because of the information gained from the autopsy.

Death
Funeral services were held in Pillsbury, Barnes County, North Dakota on Thursday, October 24, 1963 with Rev. Irving Standley officiating. Active Pallbearers were John ihry, Jr., James Leadbetter, Raymond Bower, Allen Nielson, George Lemley, and Albert Meidinger. Honorary Pallbearers were Leland Smith, Charles Webber, Kelly Barr, Warren Becker, Russell Barr, Virgil A. Watson, Ralph Norman, Herman Jess, Robert Watson, and Clifford McKay.
