"Betty Lou Ackermann Flatt, 74, died September 20, 2004, in Bend, OR. Betty was born November 9, 1929, in Bismarck, ND, to Fred and Lucille (Engelking) Ackermann. She graduated from FCHS in 1947 and went on to receive a degree in music from NDSU. She married Dr. John (Jack) Flatt in 1951 in Fargo. She worked as a travel agent until her retirement in 1990. Betty enjoyed playing golf, snow skiing, traveling, cooking, bridge, camping and spending time with family and friends. She was active in local government. She is survived by her husband, Jack, of Bend, OR; three sons; one daughter; three grandchildren; sister, Audrey Faye Ackermann Nelson, '52, of Muncie, IN. While attending FCHS, Bette Ackermann participated in: Pep Club, council; Sistocratic League; Philomathean; Girls' Glee Club; A Cappella; Orchestra; Mixed Quartet; Sophomore Choir; All-Talent; Girls' Bowling League; "Little Women", production staff; "Lost Horizon", cast; Cynosure Bi-Weekly, feature, headline writer; National Honor Society."
