Funeral Services for Pioneer Farmer Today; Was 82 Years Old
Michael Dahlke, 82 years old and a well known pioneer farmer in the Town of St. Joe, died at his home here on Tuesday, June 28, after a short illness. Mr. Dahlke was one of the few surviving early day farmers of this community.
He was born in Germany in 1855 and migrated to America in 1880. He was married to Mary Fenner in Stillwater in 1887 and for a time they made their home in North St. Paul. In 1896 they moved to a farm in the town of St. Joe, just north of Hudson, where they lived for the past forty-two years.
Thrifty and genial in disposition, Mr. Dahlke has always been a highly respected citizen of the community. He was a good neighbor, a firm friend and his death will be mourned by many.
Besides his widow, he is survived by three sons and one daughter; Herman, on a farm in St. Joe; Charles, on the home farm; Albert of Stillwater; Amelia of St. Paul. Ten grandchildren and many other relatives are also bereaved.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock today (Thursday) from the Salem Lutheran church at Stillwater, Rev. J.W. Pieper officiating. The body will lie in state from 12 o'clock noon until the time of the funeral service.
