Joan E. Oelfke age 79 of Waconia passed away Thursday May 29, 2014 at her home in Waconia.
Memorial Service Tuesday June 3, 2014 – 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (5421 France Ave. S.) Edina, MN with Rev. Mark Shockey and Rev. Norm Ruthenbeck officiating; gathering of family and friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church; Interment First Lutheran Cemetery Glencoe, MN.
Joan was born on October 23, 1934 in New Germany, MN the daughter of Franklin and Vera (Mielke) Kratley. On February 4, 1955, Joan was united in marriage to Theodore E. Oelfke in Plato, MN.
Joan was a mom and grandma extraordinaire. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Edina being a member of the Altar Guild, Sunshine Club, a Sunday school teacher and Wedding Coordinator. Joan managed Meals on Wheels for a number of years. She also worked at JC Penney’s and Quello Clinic.
Joan was preceded in death by her daughter Jill Swank; son-in-law Rodney Anderson; mother and father Vera and Franklin “Bud” Kratley.
Joan is survived by her loving family; husband Theodore; children Jacqueline Anderson of Houston, TX, Jeffrey (Jane) Oelfke of Edina, John (Diana) Oelfke of New Hope, Julie (Jeff) Lee of Farmington; son-in-law Kevin Swank of Austin; grandchildren Carrie Anderson, Christopher Anderson, Claire Anderson, Garrett and Rachel Swank, Benjamin Swank and fiancée Jamie Waltz, Daniel Swank, Andrew Swank and fiancée Michelle Hamero, Shea Oelfke, Megan Oelfke, Katie Oelfke, Beth Oelfke, Eric Oelfke, Allison Oelfke, Abby Oelfke, Jacob Lee, Michael Lee; great-grandchildren Cameron Swank, Jace Swank; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Kenneth (Barb) Oelfke of Rochester, Judith (Robert) Neessen of Alexandria; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
