MILACA PIONER DIES SUNDAY
Funeral services for John E. Olson, Milaca Township, were held from the Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday, February 14, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Frank Lunn officiating. Burial was made in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
John E. Olson was born in Hauerovallen, Sweden, on March 28, 1875. In 1893 he immigrated to this country and located at Lakeland, Minnesota, and later was married to Ellen Stayberg [Staberg] at Hudson, Wisconsin, in November, 1902. They then moved to Minneapolis where they resided until 1910 when they came to Milaca and located on a farm in Milaca Township, where he has resided until he passed away at Memorial Hospital on February 11, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 13 days.
Mr. Olson is survived by his wife, Ellen; three daughters: Mrs. Hilding Oslund and Mrs. Lillian Currie of Minneapolis; and Mrs. Oscar Rosenberg, Milaca; one son, Edward J. Olson, Milaca; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one brother, Nels, Milaca; and four sisters and one brother in Sweden; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Gladys in 1924 and Minnie in 1929.
Pallbearers were six nephews: Axel, Einar, Edwin, Andrew, Richard and Olaf Olson.
