Funeral services for Marian A. (Sandeen) Olson, 88, of Milaca, were held Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Milaca with the Rev. Jon Olson and Daryl Olson officiating.
Music was by Lloyd, Darwin, Bob and Daryl Olson and Bud and Marilyn Anderson. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.
Marian died Friday, march 4, 2005, at the Elim Hme in Milaca.
She was born June 19, 1916 in Page Township to Claus and Emma (Anderson) Sandeen. Marian attended Tibbetts Brook Elementary school and graduated from Mille Lacs high school in 1936. She married Edward J. Olson on Dec. 21, 1938 at Zion Lutheran church in Milaca. They lived at Medicine Lake from 1941 until 1948, and then moved to their farm northwest of Milaca. Marian loved playing the mandolin and in early years played at barn dances. She was a master at working crossword puzzles, a creative sewer and also enjoyed gardening. She loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marian worked at Daytons in Minneapolis, the Milaca garment factory, Alfred Olson Company and Ben Franklin in Milaca.
Marian is survived by her husband, Edward; son Roger (Yvonne) Olson of Andover, Minn.; daughter Jean (Randolph) Grant of DeSoto, Ill.; four grandchildren, Greg (Victoria) Olson, Lanise (Aaron) Burchland, Scott (Ann) Grant and Taron (Chris) Grant; eight great-grandchildren, Kalley, Carson, Ella, Braden, Nick, Kamri, Sawyer and baby Olson; sister-in-law, Esther Sandeen; special friends Joe, Cheryl, Lanise and Andrew Schmidt, and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claus and Emma Sandeen, brothers Carl, Harry, Donald, Alvin and Paul; sisters Bertha (Eli), Ellen, Elsie (Hatch), Dorothy, Alice Ritchie) and Irene (Olson).
