A Tribute
To Mrs. Jens H. Jenson, who died on Feb. 10, 1922, after a long and severe illness, through which everything was done, that medical skill and loving care could offer.
If personal effort, a strong will and a cheerful hope had been of any avail, Mrs. Jenson must have recovered. But the dread disease had laid its blighting hand, all too tenaciously on her otherwise vigorous energetic constitution, and she struggled through her last ordeal with a wonderful courage and a clear mind, until her strength would not carry her voice any more.
Mary Johnson was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Johnson who came from Norway in '82 and have made their home continuously in our midst, where their family has grown to young man and womanhood.
Through her whole girlhood and womanhood Mrs. Jenson was of helpful willing nature, and her friendship was always felt in time of sickness and trouble.
All through the war none worked harder nor with greater efficiency in the Red Cross work rooms than did Mrs. Jenson. Her wealth of beautiful flowers bloomed always in the homes of her sick friends. A good friend and a jollu good fellow and the life of the crowd wherever her numerous friends gathered for a social time.
The Daughters of Norway Lodge, of which she was trustee at the time of her death, will sadly miss the clear reasoning and willing hand that Mrs. Jenson's presence supplied. She was also a member of Aid Society Norden and the Bethel Ladies Aid society.
Six years ago, what promised to be a long, splendid life of usefulness and happiness opened for Mary Johnson and the man of her choice, Jens H. Jenson, when they were united in matrimony on April 12, 1916. They later purchased the H. J. White house on East St. Croix street and through steady unremitting effort made for themselves the home of their dreams, beautified further, both interior and esterior, by its wealth of flowers and shrubs.
Her absence will be sadly mourned by relatives and friends, near and far, and the profundest sympathy is extended to the bereaved husband in the loss of his chosen mate, to the parents in the loss of an every faithful daughter. --K.M.S.
