Surviving are two sons, Duane (Marilyn) Nerby of St. Croix Falls and Richard (Pat) Nerby of Siren; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Nerby of Houlton; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Preceding her in death were husband, Adolph, in 1966; a son, Caryle, in 1974; and a great-granddaughter, Heather Martin, in 1992.

Friday, April 09, 2004 Richard E. Nerby, 73, of Houlton died of cancer Friday, April 2, at his home following an eight-month illness.
He was born in Minneapolis, Sept. 1, 1930, the son of Adolph “Duffy” and Olga (Lofdahl) Nerby.
On April 23, 1949, in Stillwater, he was married to Patricia Drechsler, daughter of Elmer W. and Rose Drechsler.
For 34 years he was employed as a tool and gauge grinder at Minneapolis Honeywell and retired in 1986.
He was a charter member and chief of the town of St. Joseph Fire Department. Hunting, fishing and camping were among his hobbies.
Preceding him in death were a son, Daniel, in 1998; a great-grandson, Logan Miller, in 1995; and two brothers, Carlyle and Duane (Marilyn) Nerby.
Survivors are his wife, Patricia; a son, Dale (Pam) Nerby of Siren; two daughters, Kathy (Michael) Miller of Hudson and Kelly (Steven) Weinzierl of Somerset; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hudson. Private burial will be later in Houlton Cemetery.
