HSO, 21 May 1992, p7D
Albert Pender Joseph Hanson, 84, of 523 County FF, Hudson, died in the emergency room of Hudson Memorial Hospital Wednesday, May 13.
He was born Sept. 29, 1907, in Hammond, the son of John and Petra (Iverson) Hanson. The doctor who delivered the baby pronounced him dead at birth. But after the doctor left, the baby's mother insisted the child was not dead. His father was able to get the baby breathing by blowing air into the child's mouth. The next day the doctor asked if the baby had been buried and was shocked and astounded to learn the child was alive and that he had to issue a birth certificate.
In 1927 he graduated from Hudson High School.
On June 19, 1937, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hudson, he was married to Myrtle Sargent, who was from the Town of St. Joseph.
He joined the Twin Cities Carpenters and Joiners Union in 1942 and during World War II he was employed in defense work in Washington state, Nebraska and Hastings and Rosemount, Minn.
In 1947 he and his family moved to the town of Troy, where he operated a dairy farm until about 1960, when he sold his cows. From 1960 until retiring in 1971, he was employed by the Carpenters Union.
During his retirement, he enjoyed cabinetmaking and working with wood. He worked until the last day of his life.
He had been a member of Bethel Lutheran Church since 1923 and was a past member of the Men's Club.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtle; two sons, Kenneth A. and Wayne B., both of St. Paul; a daughter, Mrs. Stewart (Beverly) Bronfeld of Westport, Conn.; two sisters, Mrs. Norman (Alvina) Smith of Minneapolis and Florence Prevatke of Melrose Park, Ill.; and a grandson, Kenneth Kelly Hanson.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Paul and Engwald, and two sisters, Johanna Carlson and Selma Hanson.
