Henry Kurrasch Stricken; Dies
Veteran Resident of Hudson Stricken with Paralysis at the Home of His Daughter, Mrs. Ed Halvorson, in New Johannesburg, and Expires Sunday Evening
Henry L. Kurrasch, an old and respected citizen of Hudson, was stricken with paralysis about 9:30 Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Halverson in New Johannesburg and he died at 8:25 the same evening.
Mr. Kurrasch had planned to take in the celebration in New Richmond with the Halverson family, and was sitting on the porch a few minutes awaiting to go. When he was found, Mr. Kurrasch had fallen over on the bench where he had been sitting. He was taken in the house and medical aid summoned, but Mr. Kurrasch died at 8:25 despite everything that could be done to save him.
Mr. Kurrasch was born in Germany Dec. 13, 1841, and would have been 74 years of age had he lived until his next birthday. He came to America in 1860, and first settled in Illinois. He lived there several years and forty years ago moved to Hudson, where except for four years spent in Jewett about 1890, he has since lived. Mr. Kurrasch was a miller and ran the mill at Jewett while there. Since then he has been employed in various capacities about the Hudson shops.
Mr. Kurrasch is survived by six daughters and four sons, as follows: Miss Bertha Kurrasch, Kankakee, Ill.; Mrs. Annie Monroe, Hudson; Mrs. Ed Halverson, New Johannesburg; Mrs. Ella Clark of Idaho; Mrs. Ralph Platt, Hudson; Mrs. Albert Lombard, Hudson; Chas., foreman of the Superior & S.E. railway shops at Grand View; Rudolph of Itasca; Roy, a shop foreman at Hudson; and Frank, station agent at Clear Lake.
The funeral was held at Hudson Thursday afternoon. The trip was made overland to Hudson.
