Moved from North Carolina to Mississippi in 1849-1850. Story obtained from Era Viola Dew Brannon's family records: handwritten by Viola and included in her "book of records" after her death that was assembled by her daughters. "Grandpa Louie Crow Dew came from New York. He and his mother settled in Coffeevile, MS. When he died he owned 320 acres of land and much property. Very industrious person. Family came to US in 1850 from Ireland. He lived in New York, Baltimore, MD, the Carolinas, and then Mississippi. Married Grandmother in the Carolinas. Came to Miss with them. George Groves bought Grandpa's house and place. My father owned it and sold it to a Mr. Armstrong who sold it to George Groves. Grandpa died in 1902. Buried at Hopewell Cemetery 7 miles NE of Coffeeville, MS. Sons: John, Mitchell, Duncan and Harvey. Daughters Lizzie, Mary, Jane, Margaret, Nettie. Grandpa Dew served in the Confederate Army.
