The name Kelly Custis is taken from a list of births in a family bible in the possession of Clara Powell. C.C. is buried at old Powell farm in Johnston Co. NC. His gravestone is very ornate and weathered with age. Inscription: [To him we trust a place is given among the saints with Christ in heaven]. C.C. died of influenza and pneumonia. He is listed on his death certificate as Kelly Custis Powell.
