At the request of Basil Brooke, the following lease was recorded on Jun 24, 1746.Jun 25, 1745 from Benjamin Tasker of the City of Annapolis, Esq, Agent & Receiver General for the Proprietary of Maryland, to Basil Brooke & Dorothy, his wife, of CC, for 20 shillings sterling money of GB, with the approval of Thomas Bladen, Esq, Governor of Maryland, the lease of a tract of land in CC, being part of his Lordship's Manor of Calverton, and on the south side of the same, adjoining the land formerly granted to Walter Pake, bounded by the north side of Indian Cr against a small island in the Cr, a branch of a small Cr called Kings, containing 500 acres. The term of this lease is from Mar 28, 1747 until the expiration of 21 years. The annual rent is 20 shillings sterling money of GB, and 2 capons. Said Basil Brooke has now produced a leave from Thomas Trueman Greenfield to Michael Taney, setting forth former grants made by Cecilius, Lord Baltimore, of the lands herein before mentioned, to John Bouge and Thomas Dorsey, upon the same conditions as herein expressed, with liberty to renew their leases from 21 years to 21 years to the end of the world. Therefore sd Tasker, grants to sd Basil Brooke and Dorothy, his wife, the liberty to renew this lease for 21 more years, unless the rent is delinquent, 100 apple trees are not planted, or waste is committed.
