Will of WilliamRowlandBotetourt County,Virginia Will& Probate: 4 November 1776
"The Nuncupative Will of William Rowland dec taken on the oaths ofJames Rowland John Potts senr & John Potts junr on Monday the4th of November 1776 being the third Day after his Decease. TheDeponants being severally examined agree and say that three Days beforeWilliam Rowland Departed this Life James Rowland and John Potts senrasked William if he would not make a will and regulate his affairs.
William answered it was his desire. James asked him in what Mannner hewould make it William answered that he would give every child he had anequal Part James said it may be you have some objections viz to havesome more than others perhaps you intend to leave your land to yourBoys and an equal share of your Moveable Estate to which said Williamno answer but turned his Head from them.
They say further that they the Deponants twice put the same Questionsto said William during his last sickness and received from the him sameanswer and that to the best of the Knowledge he was at the Time inproper use of his Reason. They further say that they have often in hisLifetime & when he was in perfectHealth heard him say that itwas fit that Children alike near should fare alike and that if ever hewould make a Will it should be in that manner and not that one Sonshould possess the whole of his Land and further say not

At Court held forBotetourt County 11th of March 1777 This Instrument of Writing waspresented in court as & for the Nuncupative Will of WilliamRowland decd & proved by the oaths of James Rowland and JohnPotts junr and John Potts senr and ordered to be recorded.
